I like to move my body, write code, write essays, and write tweets, and I find fulfillment in doing what feels alive in order to skillfully contribute to others.
I enjoy observing and communicating with people: what they want, what they care about, how they spend their time. I believe that everyone is doing their best, and I'm always glad to learn about people's paths: how they got to where they are and what they're looking at on the horizon.
My own path began in Fall 2020 when I found myself suddenly unemployed. Since then, I taught myself frontend web development, I tweeted a lot about everything from the introspective to the mundane to the insightful, I wrote over fifty essays informed by how I see myself and others and the world, I moved to Austin, Texas, I got a job, I mitigated longtime issues with weight and overeating, and I found myself suddenly unemployed once again.
My time spent unemployed was the most meaningful time of my life so far. I felt alive. I felt like I had full control and responsibility over the direction of my life. I felt like I had an immense amount of power. Even in the depths of my uncertainity while struggling to come up with my next project or after an interview rejection, I believed that there was purpose behind the struggle and that I would be better off for having struggled. After over a year of persistence, a combination of networking through twitter and my coding portfolio landed me a great job. Notably, my very first coding project won over an interviewer.
I love my little life. I get to do all of the few and important things that I choose to prioritize. I don't know what comes next, but I'm glad to embrace that uncertainty. This website is an amalgamation of my values, my skills, my interests, and my orientation towards people.
